About the Artists

Mark Kingsbury

Mark began his artistic journey at the age of 10. Through the encouragement and teaching of mentors; his life experience and formal training at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Mark has honed his skills and passion. His work includes painting in oil and acrylic; sketching with pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, and calligraphy. His larger works of art include murals and back drops for a number of stage productions.

Marks work can be found hanging in many households across the country; on the walls of a number of churches in Atlantic Canada; on several drums; and accompanying many of his partner’s writings.

Valerie Kingsbury

Valerie has spent most of her life writing, in one form another. Storyteller, lyricist, poet, and author.
Valerie’s work in palliative care led her to write her first book “Creating Spaces for Healing and Hope”. Her love of the Psalms gave birth to “Soul Songs”. Her practice of daily reflection and of seeing Divine all around her inspired her book of daily reflections “From The Riverbank”. Her passion for preaching and liturgy gave rise to “Worship Ready” and “Worship Ready II”

Her love of music led her to join forces with Christopher Bowman to create new liturgical resources and hymns for an ever-evolving spirituality. These resources include “Walk the Walk” “Singing Faith Today”, “This is our Story”, “Underneath Cathedral Skies” “Beyond the Darkness” and a 10th anniversary collection “Our Story, Our Song”.
